Opportunity Spotting · Lisboa

On building where it's quiet

Mar 2026 · 7 min read

Every era has a city everyone agrees you have to be in. The strange thing about this one is how many of the people building the future quietly left those cities to do it.

Lisbon didn't plan to become that. It had cheap rent, good light, and a fast connection — and it turns out that's most of what a certain kind of work actually needs. The rest was just the absence of noise.

There's an opportunity hiding in that, and it isn't really about Lisbon. It's about the gap between where attention goes and where work happens. They are not the same place. They have never been the same place.
